"Before modern times there was Walking, but not the perfection of Walking, because there was no tea" (George Macauley Trevelyan)
North Downs Way
This 153 miles long National Trail starts in Farnham, Surrey and finishes on the coast at Dover in Kent, with an alternative finish at Canterbury Cathedral. The trail was launched in 1978 and includes two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs), the Surrey Hills and the Kent Downs. Much of the trail lies within the London commuter belt which means good train connections and, as with the Thames Path, I aim to walk the trail in sections, spread over the coming months (and, who knows, maybe years).
