Walking gets the feet moving, the blood moving, the mind moving. And movement is life.

I am a sixty something year old woman with two grown up daughters who lives in the Reading area and who loves nothing better than walking along a trail, map in hand. Each time I walk along a new path I feel like I am off on an adventure and I am usually rewarded with some unexpected experience and lasting memory. I enjoy writing about the walks almost as much as the walking itself and it has become something of an obsessive hobby.
I have read many other walking blogs and journals (and there are loads of them!) and they are all unique in their own way. Mine is a little different as I've undertaken most of the walks on my own and in day sections. I don't own a car, and researching public transport option has become quite an important part of my walk planning. It has opened my eyes to the fact that getting around London is easy but getting around more rural areas is a lot harder but not impossible (apart from Sundays when rural buses are either not running at all or at very irregular intervals. I have never yet had to use a taxi but that can be a good (if pricey) option if you miss the last bus of the day.
This website serves two purposes: firstly, it is a photo journal to remind me of the walks, and an easy way to share the photos and experiences with family and friends.
Secondly, I hope that the website will inspire like-minded people to go walking; to maybe realise a dream of walking a long distance trail whatever your age or fitness level.
